  • 1. How do I get started in fencing?
    Both private and group trial lessons are available at discounted rates for newbies. No experience is required as we cater to all skill levels. Just send an email to info@kfencingclub.com.au and book for our trial lesson.
  • 2. What do I need to bring with me for a lesson? Will the fencing gear provided?
    Fencing gear is provided. All you need to bring for a lesson are sports shoes, clothing, and a water bottle.
  • 3. I am new to the sport, can I join the group lesson?
    Group lessons are a great way to get into the sport. If it’s your first time fencing with us, trial lessons are available. We also recommend booking a 15-minute private lesson with if you want to be more prepared for your first group lesson.
  • 4. What is the age range for fencing?
    We accept everyone six years old and up. Our group lessons have sessions for U8-U11, U10-U14, U14+, as well as adults sessions. Fencing is a safe sport for all age ranges.
  • 5. How long do I need to be fencing before I can compete?
    While there is no expectation for fencers to compete but is recommended if you wan to have additional challenge. There's no minimum experience for competition, but we recommend fencers to have at least 6 months of experience so they have the skills and the confidence to enjoy competing. Each fencer should decide for themselves whether or not competition is for them. We recommend fencers to talk to coaches first before registering for the competitions.
  • 6. Do I need private lessons?
    It’s optional, but we highly recommend private lessons, as our coaches will be able to work on helping you reach your goals by refining your skills, taking into account every detail. Every fencer is different, and with private lessons, coaches can customise training plans and guide students step by step.
  • 7. Does it hurt when fencing?
    No, fencing gear is protective and prevents injury from hits. Our coaches also create an environment where poor technique which can lead to injury is corrected.
  • 8. When and where can I buy fencing gear?
    We provide fencing gear for the first term without additional charge. After the first term, you can purchase fencing gear from us or other fencing gear suppliers.
